Welcome to Thomas Endurance Coaching! Thank you for putting your trust and confidence in us. We strive to not only offer world-class coaching services but also to build a lasting relationship with all of our athletes. Helping you reach your goals is a responsibility that we don’t take lightly, and we’ll work hard to help you achieve them. Below are a few details that will help both you and your coach be as successful as possible. Please read the following carefully.

What You Should Expect

First and foremost you can expect to become a stronger and more confident athlete! Working one-on-one with your coach will facilitate a level of growth that we guarantee will be unlike any other experience you’ve had.

We leverage custom cloud-based technology from Today’s Plan to deliver all of our training. This allows remote and mobile access to athletes on a variety of different devices. Your coach will write and upload 2-4 weeks of training into your account in an effort to provide you with plenty of visibility into your training schedule. The hope is that this allows you to plan in advance in order to execute your workouts.

Communication is the key to a healthy and productive coach-athlete relationship. Typically we try to use the communication method preferred by our athletes for general conversation. We as coaches also like to use “post-activity comments”, located within each individual workout, for workout-specific discussions. Your Today’s Plan account also has its own “Inbox” system for easy and secure messaging with your coach. Based on the level of coaching that you’ve decided is best for you, your coach will provide periodic feedback on your workouts, as well as discuss long-term training goals and overall strategy. We try extremely hard to be available to our athletes and provide real-time analysis and feedback. You should expect your coach to return athlete-initiated contact within 24 hours during normal business hours/days.

We specialize in a scientific and data-driven approach to training. This means that your coach will be reviewing and analyzing your device files on a regular basis. It also means that we’ll be looking for insights into the data you produce in an effort to write truly individualized training for you. We don’t require any devices, but it’s recommended that all of our athletes train with heart rate at a minimum and highly recommend transitioning to power-based training as soon as the athlete is able. This allows every athlete to take full advantage of our coach’s knowledge and skillsets. A data-driven approach to training means that you’re invested in receiving the best coaching possible and realizing your full potential.

Your Responsibilities

A successful coach-athlete relationship is a two-way street. As a TEC athlete, your primary responsibility is to follow the training schedule we’ve written for you as closely as you can. As such, it is imperative that you communicate any and all foreseeable barriers to your training as far in advance as possible. We also expect to receive regular feedback on all pertinent workouts in order for your coach to get a well-rounded picture of your training.

While verbal communication and feedback are critical, data serves as yet another form of communication. Timely upload of your workouts to Today’s Plan, as well as providing workout ratings, is an important component to staying in communication with your coach. This not only allows your coach to track your progress but often times facilitates the need for adjustments to your training that may impact the quality of your workouts in the future.

Be respectful of your coach’s time and resources. While our passion is helping our athletes to be the best they can be, it’s important that athletes understand a coach’s need for personal and family time. Not only do we strive to provide the highest level of service to our athletes, but we also strive to facilitate an environment that leads to healthy and happy coaches. Do your best to communicate any issues or concerns enough in advance so that your coach has the ability to respond and address your concerns during normal business hours.

Life happens and we completely understand! We’re here to help you blend your training goals with your other responsibilities. In order for us to do that please let your coach know as soon as possible when plans change due to sickness, weather, travel, family, etc. If you require frequent plan changes and have a dynamic work/family life please consider choosing the coaching package that allows for these types of frequent adjustments.

Trust your coach! Everyone at TEC is an extremely well-trained professional coach that has chosen to make coaching their career. There will be times when workouts and training periods are hard or challenging. Remember that in order to grow you have to push yourself. Have confidence in your coach and their approach. It’s always encouraged to maintain an open dialogue with your coach regarding your training, and we strive to provide full transparency into our approach. However, always remember that one of your responsibilities as an athlete is to bring 100% to each and every workout. With a combination of your effort and your coach’s knowledge, you’ll be able to reach your full potential.

Please review the following questionnaire in detail and answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. These questions will help your coach get a better sense of you as an athlete, as well as develop detailed and individualized training. The more detailed and thorough you can be, the better your coach will be able to help you.
